Blog Hiatus

My blog is on an indefinite hiatus as I can no longer be bothered writing about banal details of my life and thoughts.

Dress Up Parties

Topic # 5

I've never really been a fan of dress up parties in the past, although sometimes fun, most of the time they are much more stressful than a normal party, especially if you're the one holding it.

S and I have planned a dress up party for this weekend but I've decided today to pull the pin on the dress up part due to dress-up-party-host-related-stress. There's the stress of wondering if people will come, if enough people will come, then wondering if they'll wear costumes, will you be the only one in costume? Inversely there's the stress that someone puts in much more effort than everyone else and subsequently doesn't fit in.

It's all a massive pain and can easily be avoided by hosting a normal party. What were we thinking!

In other news, finalising time off work and my trip up to Queensland for my Young Endeavour Voyage now. It's all getting very exciting!

Also, S wants a cat and I have agreed to this idea in principle if she can arrange the purchase of said cat. I will subsequently be a 'cat person' despite being a 'non cat person' for 23+ years. Sigh. End of an era.

Au revoir!

Young Endeavour!

Topic # 5

I'm going on the Young Endeavour in June! Very exciting news! I will be sailing from Newcastle to Brisbane. It will be a lifelong dream come dream.

And, with that out of the way, what else?

Oh, Kim Kardashian? What's the point of this woman besides making me just skip about 10 minutes of my Hamish and Andy podcast? As far as I can piece together from Foxtel ads and the few seconds I hear about her before I change the channel, she's a porn star who let's people film her pathetic life? True? Bah! Already too much time wasted on this.

In long weekend related news, S and I, and maybe some friends or my brother, will probably be hitting a Lounge Bar tonight for some pizzas and cheap drinks!

Saturday dedicated to shopping with S.

Sunday to domestic repairs and a BBQ with old mates.

Monday to the Diggers!

Until Tuesday, au revoir!

Boat trips, Masterchef and My Finger

Topic # 4

NOTE: Today's blog will be a short round up of some of the activities I've been up to over the last few days. I'd make it interesting and witty but I'm literally almost falling asleep at my desk and my massive finger (more on that below) is making it hard to type. Apologies in advance to my only follower, S.

God I'm tired.

This weekend proved to be a return to summer and I was lucky enough to be able to go out with S and the family on their boat for a spin around the bay. Thoroughly enjoyable with the on board breakfast and the James Bond turns performed by yours truly as highlights.

Now I thought I'd also comment on the new MasterChef fad to hit the airwaves, my home and the twitterverse. I watched the show with S last night and, although an interesting show, I don't get why it's so popular? I'm heading down to JB this week to get Play TV for my PS3 so I can record my SBS shows and continue to watch MC with S. We'll just have to see how it pans out.

Also, as you can see below my finger is heavily bandaged, this is due to a rather stubborn cuticle infection caused by my nail biting. This have caused me great pain, two doctors visits and two rounds of Amoxycillin to even try to beat it! So I am from about a week ago determined to quit a 10 year nail chewing habit!

Bad Weightloss Ads

Saw this ad and just had to post. Hilarious photoshop (paint) job on the face!

Bicycle Rage

Topic # 2

Bicycle Rage is a Good Thing

I ride my bicycle to work most days and have over the last 3 months or so been the victim of bicycle rage several times, the normal result is a lot of beeping and swearing. This morning was another such incident and it followed the normal pattern, I do something perfectly legal and reasonable and some idiot loses it at the apparent indiscretion. Now, most people know that the safest place for a bike at the lights is right out the front of traffic in the bicycle waiting box specially marked on the road. NOT THIS WOMAN! She was driving one of those V8 Caprice limo things that take Emirates business class passengers to the airport and had decided to be a bit sneaky in the soon- to-be-blocked left lane and try to race in front of the traffic. Once I parked myself right in her way, ruining her best laid plans, she saw red and proceeded to beep her horn the entire rest of the lights sequence and eventually zoom past me, but not before I gave her a spray of expletives through her open window.
Normally you'd expect to feel upset by this, not me, I've noticed the more I get raged the more I can yell back, and the more relaxed I feel. You can't beat the feeling of morning exercise and calling a complete stranger a f*cking d*ckhead. It's fantastic! I'm starting to hope people get annoyed at me in the morning so I can yell at someone and feel that euphoria. What's even better is that in this modern sprawling Melbourne there's no telling where these losers live, could be Mentone, Cranbourne, hell even Safety Beach, so you can spray away without the fear of running into them at the shops.
Who would have thought modern anonymity and bicycle rage would actually make me a more relaxed person?

First Post

Decision to Blog and Blog Name

Well the main reason is to write down the few interesting things that come out of my head each day for strangers to enjoy! The second reason is, quite frankly, I'm jealous of my girlfriend S and her sweet blog (Everyone Knows It's Slinky) and want in on the action!

I will endeavor to make my blogs as short and interesting as possible with lots of pretty pictures of my exploits!

Topic #1

Small things that have made me happy lately.

Driving on the F1 track.

For males, the epitome of cool occupations has to be either international race car driver or jet fighter / helicopter pilot. And for about 10 minutes last week I was one, an F1 driver that is. I got to drive on the Albert Park F1 track, corners 4, 5 and even 6, the home straight and the pits, albeit at 50km/h. This brief and glorious period between when the track is packed up and the public road reopens allows males throughout Melbourne to enjoy pretending to be Jenson Button.

Eating cereal at my desk.

Nothing beats migrating personal time to work time and I'm a massive advocate of this. So far I've managed to migrate exercise, showering, blogging, and now breakfast to work time!

Views of Melbourne

This is the view from my office window, pretty nice right! Nothing brings a smile to my face more than a view of Melbourne. This particular view, from Albert Park, is a new one for me, I've done all angles and distances, Hume Hwy first glance around the corner, over the Bay from the Peninsula, straight up St Kilda Road, Peering out our old Hawthorn flat's window and all never fail to make me happy!

Hamish and Andy Podcasts

I love listening to Hamish and Andy but can't stand the music on Fox or the ads or anything to do with their station at all really so have in the past have pretty much cut my loses and listened to Triple j drive. I've just recently, and I know very late, discovered Podcasts and this is the one I've become most addicted to, can't wait to open iTunes and download yesterday's straight away in the mornings. Hamish to Andy's straight man have me chuckling out loud to an office of bemused coworkers every day.
